Dry January is nearly over and Aldi has the perfect way to celebrate ... its award-winning £15 gin.

The parent-favourite supermarket (and the cheapest, according to consumer champions Which?) has made headlines over recent months for supplying not just good value booze, but also *really nice* booze.

Aldi's Cotes du Rhone had wine experts talking before Christmas, with £3.49 bottles flying off the shelves.

And now, the supermarket giant has won an award at the World Gin Awards 2024 for their bargain spirit.

'Low prices don't mean a compromise on quality'

The gin in question is Haysmith’s Seville Orange & Persian Lime Gin which won the 'Best in Country' award. It also won the Best in Britain prize for flavoured gin too, judged by journalists, specialist drinks retailers and industry experts.

Not only is the Aldi tipple officially better than its rival, Tanqueray Flor De Sevilla Gin, it's also is 46% cheaper, with the Tanqueray version costing £28.

Julie Ashfield, Managing Director of Buying at Aldi, said: 'Now more than ever, we are showing that low prices doesn’t mean a compromise on quality – we’ve got the logo to prove it!'

The supermarket also brought home three silver medals for its Greyson’s London Dry Gin, Haysmith’s Rhubarb & Ginger Gin and Toradh Seville Orange Gin within the Classic and Flavoured Gin categories.

'Definitely a favourite'

It's not just the critics who rate the gin: Aldi shoppers love it too.

On social media, Aldi asked shoppers what their favourite Aldi alcohol was. And they were flooded with votes for the Seville orange and Persian lime gin

'Definitely a favourite,' one shopper said, while another added: 'Might treat myself to that'.
