These barrel jeans from Sainsbury's look just like Cos' £70 pair but cost nearly £50 less – and they're so good I've bought them in every colour

Although I adore shopping, I always try my best not to be a slave to trends because I just know I'll look back at pictures in a few years' time and wonder why on earth I was channeling Pat Butcher with such dedication.

The trouble is, sometimes styles just kind of disappear and then you have to find an alternative. For years, skinny jeans were my go-to, and I always knew where I was with them. Topshop Jamie jeans were my trusted denim staple and I didn't veer very far from them.

But then, I noticed skinnies were being replaced with wider and looser silhouettes. However, as someone of fairly short stature (5 ft 3 and a half – and yes the half is *very* important), a lot of the new styles just didn't work with my short legs.

'A bargain Cos dupe'

When I spotted the Cos 'arch' jeans popping up on the legs of influencers on Instagram, I decided that the barrel style was one that would work for me; they looked cropped at the ankle and ideal for a casual spring style. The trouble was, even though I don't mind spending a bit more for decent denim, at £69 a pair they were a bit out of my budget.

So, I went down a rabbit hole trying to seek out a suitable dupe. I ordered several pairs of barrel jeans from H&M which were all way too long, and was almost going to get the credit card out and splash out on the Cos version, when I spotted an almost identical pair from Sainsbury's. And even better, they came in different leg lengths, which meant I could order a short leg.
Plus, for £22 they were £47 cheaper than the Cos jeans. A bargain dupe!

'I bought them in both colours'

The first pair I bought were blue, which I ordered in a size 10S, and once I tried them on, I fell a bit in love. They fit really nicely around the waist, the leg length was perfect and I knew they'd work really well with my spring wardrobe. So then, I quickly rushed back online and snapped up the black colourway, too.

I know these will be a spring staple for me, and for £22 you can't go wrong. Plus, my credit card remains relatively unscathed without the Cos cost of £69 a pair.

Other Cos dupes

If you're a big fan of Cos' style but your budget won't stretch to their prices, then there are some other great pieces that look just like Cos, but cost a lot less.

This M&S bag has fans 'obsessed' and is identical to Cos' £85 quilted bag. ASOS also has this bag which is another Cos dupe but costs just £24.

And if you're after a stylish striped shirt for spring, then this Cos one will set you back £65, but we've spotted an almost identical version at Primark for just £14.
